Oil Filtration

The Solution

CONTINUOUS FILTRATION DOWN TO 1 MICRON “NOMINAL” utilising the unique “Hippo” Filtration System for Mineral based oil, Diesel, Kerosene oil, Turbine oil, Bio-Diesel, Bio-ethanol & Water-based fluids whilst saving between 30-60% on your lubricant cost and extending equipment life.

  • Lubricant Oil Filtration - HD32 up to 680 high Viscosity
  • Hydraulic Oil Filtration – Achievable Cleanliness: ISO 4406 14/9
  • 3 in One Filter System:
    • Pre-Filtration (Stainless Steel Pre Bag Filter Housing, 10Bar)
    • Magnetic-Filtration (Magnet fitted into the Pre Bag Filter)
    • Depth Filtration (Polishing stage with Hippo Filters)

2 ways of Oil Filtration:

1. Continuous Bypass/kidney Filtration:

Continuous Oil Filtration adds to a higher degree of lubricant cleanliness.

Independent of the main lubrication system, bypass/kidney units provide isolated treatment of fluids before they are introduced back into the system. While still providing continuous flow, this extra stage of filtration ensures particulates and water aren't being continuously circulated through the lubrication system and oil reservoirs.

This ensures a high degree of lubricant cleanliness, Reduces premature wear of machinery and Optimizes equipment performance.

Kidney loop systems can be customized to the customers’ requirements, ensuring target cleanliness levels are reached by using different filtration elements.

Benefits of Continuous Oil Filtration:

2. Once Off Filtration: On and Offsite

Do you have contaminated Oil on-site?

Perfect Filtration will filtrate your oil to ISO specification (or better) by 50% of the cost of new oil. If the Oil Additives are not depleted, there is no reason to dispose or change your oil. Simply filtrate your lubricants to specification. With our Mobile units we can easily install the units on-site or if our customer prefers offsite, Perfect Filtration will collect the lubricants, filtrate it offsite and deliver clean oil back to the customer with a laboratory result which acts as certification.

The true and hidden cost of an oil change far exceeds the price of the new oil. Downtime, material handling and process workflow combined with the safety risk and environmental impact is significant. Testing and filtration of the oil/lubricant can have up to 50% cost reduction.

Oil Filtration is the Solution

There are many extra costs that can be associated with oil changes. These can vary from site to site. It is important to add up all the costs associated with an oil change, including the overhead, indirect and risk-based costs. Although the actual “real” cost is insignificant, labour costs of two hours and the administration associated with purchase orders can result in a cost of almost 40 times the actual cost of the oil. Given the actual high cost associated in performing an oil change, it might make a lot more sense to try to keep the oil and the equipment for as long as it is truly serviceable and to upgrade sealing and filtration. In most cases, these are one time only costs while planning oil changes recur for the life of the equipment. In short: There are many “extra” costs associated with oil changes but we often consider only direct costs and ignore the costs associated with overhead support and auxiliary functions.

Common Misperceptions About Filtration

If a 10-micron in-line filter blocks prematurely and has to be serviced on a frequent basis, then by installing a finer micron filter, maintenance will become more frequent, more costly and maintenance intensive. THIS IS INCORRECT

The science of Tribology shows that each particle of contamination effectively generates 3 wear metal particles – a wear ratio of 1:3

If all contaminants up to and including 10-micron are able to pass directly through a 10-micron filter screen and go on to create additional wear particles, COMPOUNDING exponentially, until a grinding solution is formed. The grinding solution continues to wear away components and block filters as a result. Break the chain of growth, by stopping these microscopic particles before they do damage, thereby increasing equipment and filter life. A logical approach to the problem yields dramatic results.

The Case for Increasing Filter Micron Size

This will provide longer filter life but will negatively impact lubrication cleanliness resulting in rapid chemical degradation of the oil, shortening the life of the oil and the equipment it is lubricating. This is a negative approach to cost reduction.

The Case For Maintaining Filter Micron Size

Operations will continue as normal, running costs will remain high and equipment life will continue to be impacted by inferior lubrication cleanliness and quality. This is static to a negative approach to cost reduction.

Cost Reduction

By fitting an additional 1-micron offline filter, all contamination above 1 micron will be stopped and will be limited in creating further wear. As less particle wear is created, this results in cleaner oil, maintaining the additive package and results in LONGER FILTER LIFE, INCREASED EQUIPMENT LIFE and regular oil drain become a practice of the past. This is a proactive and very successful approach to immediate cost reductions.

Environment - We Care

• Just 1 litre of oil can contimaniate 1 million liters of water. Collectively we are directly responsible for the environment.
• By installing Continous Filtration Systems, the oil change/drain intervals are extended and therefore less oil will be used and less oil to be disposed. By extending your oil life 4-10 times: a lot less oul will be disposed this reducing environmental damage.
• Cost Saving: Replacing of the oil or oil disposal is very costly.
